Smoking is prohibited in places of employment and within 15 feet of the entrance to a place of employment.

Under 410 ILCS 82/4, a business that fails to comply with the Smoke-Free Illinois Act (including the signage requirement) is subject to a fine of:

• $250 for the first violation,
• $500 for the second violation within one year after the first violation, and
• $2,500 for each additional violation within one year after the first violation.
