What is the EEOC?
expand_moreexpand_lessThe Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is an independent federal agency originally created by Congress in 1964 to enforce Title VII. The agency handles charges of discrimination based on age, disability, equal pay, national origin, pregnancy, race, religion, sex and genetic information, as well as sexual harassment. The EEOC maintains agreements with state civil rights agencies so that any complaint is filed with both agencies (State and EEOC).
