Drivers who operate a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) must make sure their vehicle is in good condition to avoid accidents, roadside breakdowns, and delays. Conducting regular inspections can help them keep their vehicle in good working order. This helps them identify problems before they cause accidents or crashes.
Additionally, they can address mechanical problems before they lead to breakdowns or being placed out of service during a roadside inspection. Regular vehicle checks prevent costly infractions and fines that can negatively impact both productivity and profits.
This curriculum is designed to help drivers understand when inspections and inspection documentation are required.
