MSHA 4-Hour New Miner Site-Entry - Online Training Course

The MSHA 4-Hour New Miner Site-Entry online training course is Part 1 of the new miner training. This online course is designed to provide the fundamentals of staying safe and healthy around common mine hazards, as well as provide important information that all new miners should know. Such topics include miner’s rights and responsibilities, as well as the roles and responsibilities of supervisors and miner’s representatives.
This online safety course adheres to regulations which require mine operators and/or independent contractors provide no less than four hours of training for new miners before they enter a mine site.
PLEASE NOTE:This course is only applicable to the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Title 30, Part 46 regulations for non-coal surface mining. This training does not fulfill Part 48 training requirements. Please contact the mine you are planning to enter to ensure whether you must complete Part 46 or Part 48 training.
After completing this course, learners are encouraged to take Part 2 of the new miner training — MSHA 4-Hour New Miner General Training Online Course.
- Intended Audience: Intended for all those who work or intend to work at a surface mine site, such as an applicable mine for sand, gravel, or crushed stone. Individuals who will specifically benefit from this training include the following:
- New mine operator employees who have no prior experience in a mine
- Contract employees who have no prior experience in a mine
- Experienced miners starting work for a new employer or contractor and need to supplement prior training
