March 11, 2022
Each year, hundreds of employees are injured or die from preventable hazards while working in grain storage and handling. Stand Up 4 Grain Safety, scheduled for April 4 - 8, focuses on how bin operators’ work practices may be the difference between life and death.
The week begins with a virtual kick-off event on Monday, April 4, which will focus on safety around grain structures and equipment, and feature live safety demonstrations, success stories, and more.
Other topics for the week include:
- April 5 — electrical safety
- April 6 — heat stress and other weather-related hazards
- April 7 — personal protective equipment
- April 8 — slips/trips/falls, crush, struck-by hazards
Any employer who wants to prevent hazards in the workplace and provide a safe work environment should participate in the stand up. In past years, participants included grain handling, grain processing, feed manufacturing, agronomy facilities, and others across the nation.
