Stand Up 4 Grain Safety Week kicked off March 24

March 26, 2025

Stand Up 4 Grain Safety Week, which kicked off March 24, brings attention to preventable grain handling hazards and promotes safety. Grain handling is a high-hazard industry where workers can be exposed to serious and life-threatening hazards such as suffocation from engulfment in grain bins, falls from heights, and explosions from grain dust accumulation.

The week began with an event focused on worksite housekeeping, hearing conservation, preventing struck-by incidents, and railway safety. Subsequent events include open discussions and daily interactive webinars with OSHA regulatory experts on topics including:

  • Fatigue,
  • Emergency safety planning, and
  • Alternative grain storage.

This year’s event is a joint effort between OSHA’s Alliance Program, the Grain Handling Safety Council, the Grain Elevator and Processing Society, and the National Grain and Feed Association. More information and resources are available on the Stand Up 4 Grain Safety webpage.
