OSHA seeks input on establishing a positive workplace safety culture

August 9, 2023

To learn how organizations integrate safety and health (S&H) into their core workplace values, OSHA held a national listening session with business owners, employers, and workers on June 14. The agency sought input from local businesses and stakeholders on how they use S&H programs to ensure a positive workplace safety culture. OSHA continues to seek public comments until November 30.

Specifically, the agency wants input on 18 questions related to work safety values, safety in practice, and safety messaging/tools, and will use commenter submissions to:

  • Develop educational materials on safety and health programs as part of a workplace safety culture,
  • Identify barriers and challenges for improving workplace safety culture, and
  • Define cultural strategies to reduce work injuries.

To comment, search for Docket No. OSHA-2023-0011 at regulations.gov.
