OSHA ramping up enforcement for e-reporting violators
April 6, 2022
According to a recent agency memo, OSHA will send area offices a weekly list of employers who failed to e-submit annual injury summaries. These will be cross-referenced against open inspections. For establishments/inspections that are valid matches, OSHA will inform the employer of their reporting obligation and follow enforcement procedures.
This weekly list and cross-reference procedure will help the agency avoid the statute of limitation for recordkeeping violations, which, for e-reporting, is six months from the March 2 e-submission deadline (September 2).
Employers are required to meet the reporting requirements by submitting their Calendar Year (CY) 2021 OSHA Form 300A data through the Injury Tracking Application (ITA). Employers who were required to submit but failed to, can still do so.
